This short module introduces managers to the skills and techniques to help them get there.

  • Learn the case for coaching direct reports and the benefits of being a coach.
  • Fundamentals of coaching
  • Learn Ariel’s definition of a coach and gain exposure to other viewpoints and perspectives.
  • Gain insight into skills and techniques to support coachees, including listening for their professional strengths and challenges, helping them build mastery, and embodying the qualities of the PCIR model: Present, Caring, Inspiring, and Rigorous.
  • Reflect on one’s strengths and challenges with these skills.
  • Applying the fundamentals with IGROW
  • Apply the fundamentals of coaching with IGROW—a model that paces and structures coaching sessions.
  • Establish criteria for helping coachees set effective, achievable goals.
  • Learn messages for providing both negative and positive feedback to coachees.
  • Reflect on one’s next opportunity to coach and commit to scheduling time with a potential coachee.
  • Optional: Reinforcement session (below) can be delivered in-person or as VILT on your platform of choice
  • Applying core concepts to participants’ real work context
