Based in New York, NY, Greta Cowan is a Senior Consultant at the Ariel Group and a Leadership Coach. She has been coaching leaders for 10 years. Greta has great passion for and experience in supporting clients to develop the self awareness, emotional intelligence, and clarity of personal values that excellent leadership demands. Over the years, Greta has helped leaders and teams make their vision of the future tangible and possible.

For the Ariel Group, she has conducted leadership development programs for companies such as American Express, General Electric, Capital One, Novartis and JPMorgan Chase. She brings a dynamic blend of humor, compassion, honesty, and rigor to her work with business professionals, helping them expand their presence and become more authentic, inspirational leaders. Greta has taught and lectured at Columbia Business School under the auspices of the Executive Education and Executive MBA Departments and the Institute for Not-for-Profit Management. She has worked nationwide and abroad with a wide variety of executives from both the corporate and non-profit sectors.

RECENT COACHING ASSIGNMENTS:

  • Long term engagement with SVP at financial services firm.
    Conducted in-depth 360 degree interviews and crafted a comprehensive feedback report based on extensive anecdotal data culled from these conversations. As a result, the coaching engagement was focused on developing relationship building skills, creating more trust with others, and becoming more flexible in leadership style. Worked one-on-one with SVP long term and also designed off-site intervention with the client and her team. Subsequent feedback confirmed that SVP had positively impacted business relationships, was demonstrating more leadership flexibility, and was being perceived by the organization as a builder of trust.
  • CFO of international financial services firm who was interested in being a more inspirational leader.
    The coaching engagement focused on personal research into the leader’s core values and their connection to the client’s role within the organization. Supported leader in identifying and leveraging significant leadership moments to explicitly speak his core values in order to inspire and motivate direct reports, peers, and internal and external stakeholders.
  • Newly appointed CEO of cosmetic firm.
    Supported the client’s process of creating new strategy and vision for the organization. Helped the client prepare for and design the first off-site with his new team.
  • Partner at a consulting firm.
    Addressed issues of managing anxiety, navigating organizational politics, and internal relationship building. The client was promoted to senior partner soon after the coaching engagement.
