- Edwardyne Cowan
Based in New York, NY, Edwardyne Cowan is a Senior Consultant at the Ariel Group and brings over 12 years of experience in training and development to her executive coaching work. Her special interest is in helping people change their communication behaviors through increased self awareness, strategic and conscious decision making, practice, and positive reinforcement. She has extensive experience helping individuals and teams meet the demands of communicating virtually and across cultures. She brings a unique combination of positive energy, sensitivity, and a passion for excellence to her coaching work with various leaders from the corporate, government and non-profit sectors.
For the Ariel Group, she has conducted leadership development programs for organizations such as Capital One, General Electric, Disney, Booz Allen, NASA, KPMG, Bristol Myers Squibb, and the Center Against Domestic Violence. She coaches individuals to reach their developmental and organizational goals by helping them become strategic about not only what they communicate, but how they communicate.
Prior to establishing her own consulting business, Edwardyne worked for several years at the New York Aquarium as a marine mammal trainer. There she learned the art of operant conditioning – how to shape behavior – working with beluga whales, dolphins, and sea lions. She is a firm believer that positive reinforcement and experiential learning are the most powerful training tools for changing behavior.

Long term cross-cultural communication engagement (3 years) with several Vice Presidents of a Japanese insurance company. Coached clients for their team meetings with US insurance partners. Enhanced team’s physical presence skills which led to increased confidence and improved ability to deliver effective messages in English.
- VP, Fortune 100 Global Life Insurance Company
Coached Vice President of a Fortune 100 global life insurance company to improve his listening skills with subordinates and colleagues during virtual meetings, and enhance his leadership presence during executive meetings.
- Principal, New York Consulting Firm
Coached Principal of a New York consulting firm on her personal communication style. Assessed her style and developed her abilities to flex that style to meet the needs of clients with differing styles. Client built stronger working relationships and reduced her anxiety around working with different styles.
- Immigration and Customs Enforcement Supervisor, DHS
Coached ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) Supervisor in the Department of Homeland Security to build trust and communicate effectively with colleagues across multiple law enforcement agencies. Inter-agency collaboration increased.
- VP Sales, Consumer Goods
Coached newly promoted Vice President of Sales at a consumer goods company to conduct difficult conversations with direct reports. Team morale and sales were maintained.

Coached NYC school principal to improve relationships with parents, teachers, and administrative staff. Conducted 360 evaluation and developed action plans to de-escalate tensions, build community, and create opportunities for more teacher collaboration.
