Forbes cites Ariel founder Belle Linda Halpern in look at leadership authenticity

In the September 22, 2006 edition of Forbes magazine, leadership author and consultant Dr. Saj-nicole Joni penned an insightful exploration of the critical differences between leadership authenticity and simplistic "be yourself" transparency. Enthusiastically endorsing leadership presence as a way to improve the bottom line by attracting and keeping the best people, Joni warns that true authentic leadership can be "anything but simple, straightforward, fully truthful and uncontrived."

Theater-based training can make the difference. Citing Halpern's "pioneering work in integrating acting with authentic presence in business," Joni wrote that " …nowhere is the seeming paradox of role and authenticity better understood than in the theater."

Halpern: "You must think strategically as you develop your platform for authentic presence and communication. First, it's about the role, results, and people you serve, and only secondarily is it about you. What you seek are the aspects of deeply held self that are most relevant and strategic for the business purpose and requirements of your executive role. "
